ProCredit Bank Moldova has signed a new financing agreement worth €5 million with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with the support of the European Union, under the EU4Business–EBRD Credit Line, aimed at supporting enterprises in the Republic of Moldova.
The credit agreement was signed during the official visit to the Republic of Moldova of EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.
Through this new loan, ProCredit Bank will expand financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), responding to the growing demand from its business clients and ensuring the continuity of their operational flows.
The EU4Business–EBRD credit line supports projects that contribute to increasing the competitiveness and capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises, both in local markets and in those of the European Union. The EU4Business initiative represents the general framework through which the European Union provides support to SMEs in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine.

ProCredit Bank is a long-standing partner of the EBRD and one of the most active partner banks within the EU4Business program in the Republic of Moldova. From 2018 to the present, the bank has facilitated financing totaling €45 million through this program. The new €5 million tranche strengthens this partnership and contributes to supporting the sustainable development of the entrepreneurial sector.
The financing is intended for investments in modernizing equipment, products, and services, aligning with European Union standards, increasing competitiveness, and leveraging international trade opportunities. Loans will be granted in both euros and Moldovan lei, and at least 70% of the portfolio is expected to finance investments in green technologies.

The loan is complemented by grants funded by the European Union, which will provide financial incentives for successfully implemented investment projects by ProCredit Bank clients, as well as technical assistance and consultancy for both the bank and the final beneficiaries.
The Republic of Moldova obtained candidate status for EU accession in 2023, and this new financing contributes to achieving the objectives of aligning with EU financial and environmental standards, as outlined in the country’s Growth Plan.
ProCredit Bank is a development-oriented commercial bank and the fifth-largest bank in the Republic of Moldova. The institution is wholly owned by ProCredit Holding AG & Co and is part of the ProCredit Group, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. The Group operates 12 banks in transition economies and developing countries and also includes a bank in Germany.
EBRD is the largest institutional investor in the Republic of Moldova, with total investments of nearly €2.9 billion in 188 projects, of which approximately 40% are allocated to sustainable infrastructure.
